With the help of an anonymous donor we raised over $11k! More info coming soon!
This year we will again participate in The Longest Day, an annual event endorsed by ACBL to raise money to address the emotional, physical, and mental needs of persons with Alzheimer’s and those who care for them. If you wish to donate to this worthy cause you may do so at this website: Bridge in the Park 2017. You can also bring a donation to the club. Checks must be made payable to "Alzheimer's Association."
Just like our garden, Redwood is blooming and growing. Read more about our friendly club in the latest newsletter.
Although the temps don't show it, change is in the air at Redwood. Our affiliates, the folks at the San Diego Bridge Academy, are trying out a new ACBL-sanctioned game on Friday mornings at 9:30, and it's being held in Redwood's newly carpeted and redecorated classroom.
And speaking of change, check out our newly landscaped front entrance! Thanks to Onstance Robinson for her design concept and hard work!
Our April newsletter is now available at the club or by clicking on the images below. The lead story is a visit scheduled for May 7 by ACBL's chief executive, Robert Hartman. He will meet with members, speak to the media, and play in one of our sanctioned games that day.
Hartman's visit is part of a national tour to promote The Longest Day, our Alzheimer's fundraising event scheduled for June 20. For more information or to contribute, go to our TLD site: Bridge in the Park. To donate, click on the yellow "Donate" button.
Beginning February 2, all afternoon games -- the ones that used to start at 12:15pm -- will begin at noon. This includes sanctioned and non-sanctioned games, six days a week. The 11am game on Thursday, the evening games, and class times are NOT affected.
The December newsletter is available at the club. It lists our activities for the month:
There's a new "Bridge in the Park" newsletter just out. It has member news, an instructional article on "Texas Transfers," and a feature story on Oswald Jacoby, the bridge genius. Read it below, pick up a copy at the club, or send an email to email@example.com.
Also, mark your calendars for the evening of December 13 for our annual holiday party. There will be feasting (a home-cooked meal by Elayne and David) and, of course, our regular ACBL-sanctioned game... all for just $10!
Redwood Bridge Club just launched a newsletter, Bridge in the Park, for all members and guests. A snapshot of page one is shown below. Pick up copies at the club or email firstname.lastname@example.org. We will publish this on an occasional basis. If you have story ideas, please use the new suggestion box located in the main room by the posted results.
It will be business as usual on Labor Day, September 1. Come join us for our usual afternoon game at 12:15pm sharp or the ACBL-sanctioned game or supervised play at 7pm. The afternoon game is $2 for members, $5 for nonmembers. The evening games are $8. There's a complimentary lecture at 6:30.
